Uganda is a lush country located in Central-Eastern Africa right on the coast of Lake Victoria. Winston Churchill is famously accredited for calling Uganda, “The pearl of Africa,” because of its beauty. Despite its gorgeous landscape, it is plagued by a brutal civil war lasting over 20 years that has left the people in a place of economic, social and spiritual brokenness with no parallel.
In 2009, Vita Nova Church had the opportunity to send their first team of people to Uganda with the hope of developing a bridge that would allow consistent help and support to be given to friends who were working on the ground in Africa. Over the years, relationships with American workers in Uganda, as well as numerous Ugandans have grown into deep friendships.
Very simply put, Uganda is more than just a broken country to us– it’s a place that harbors an extension of our community and family whom we love dearly, and want to serve as best we can.
